So, you’ve decided to upgrade your bathroom. You pretty much have an idea of everything you want to do with it except, the shower has you sort of stumped. There are so many ways that you can do it and if you do it wrong then it can be expensive to tear it out and start over.
You’re not sure if you want to add a bunch of colors, keep it white, or go for a large build or a small one. Lucky for you, we have some neat design ideas of our own that we’re going to share with you. Here are 8 cool shower ideas that will add pizazz to any bathroom.
In This Post:
1. Focal Wall
A bathroom trend that has been popping up all over the place is using a single focal wall in the shower. This wall will bring your guest’s attention to all of the little features in the shower, including the brilliant fixtures that you spent tons of money on.
You’ve got lots of options if you want to go this route such as stone, an ornate tile pattern, or gorgeous printed glass.
2. Add a Splash of Color
White is a popular color for bathrooms because it screams cleanliness and it relies on the old less is more philosophy. The problem is that white bathrooms can also give off a feeling of cold lifelessness.
Don’t be afraid to brighten things up with color if you feel your bathroom comes across as a little cold. You’d be surprised at how much life a colored shower could bring to the room.
3. Shower Seating
Imagine coming home after a long day at work and sitting on a bench in your shower to just unwind and relax under the warm water. Many people like to get a bench built into their shower because it makes them feel like they’re at a spa.
If you don’t want to commit to building an entire bench in your shower until you know if you’ll like it, you can always put a water-resistant bench in there that you can remove at any time.
4. Shower Lighting
Lighting is a considerably overlooked feature in a lot of bathrooms which is sad because nothing sets a mood better. You can do so many cool things with lighting in your shower too.
For example, if you go with that focal wall option we were talking about you can highlight it with shower lights. You can even get shower heads that have lights installed.
Imagine coming home and taking a shower with no lights on but the one in the shower head. Pretty soothing if you ask us, especially if you add your favorite music into the mix.
5. His and Her
If your home already has his and her sinks or closets, why not step it up a notch with his and her shower heads. It will provide enough space for you and your significant other to take showers together.
There is also something satisfying about having something for yourself. It’s your side of the shower with all your shampoo and body wash. It’s like having a closet that only contains your clothes and shoes.
6. Mix Up Your Tiles
Mixing up your shower tiles can add a bit of texture to the bathroom. There are a few ways that you can create this effect. You can add a single stripe of tile that’s different from all the others.
Change things up by having your tiles installed vertically instead of horizontally. Lastly, you can have the tile in your shower wall be a different color than the tile in the rest of your bathroom.
7. Unique Finishes
Nobody said that it was a crime if you didn’t use basic tile in your shower. It’s just the most common thing to use so most people turn to it. You could try out different finishes to bring a unique flair to your shower.
For example, you can use a teak wood shower floor. It absorbs moisture better than any other wood so you don’t have to worry about it rotting out from under your feet because of water damage. You’ll have to do periodic treatments on it though because while the water won’t rot it away, it will cause the grain to raise.
On top of the teak wood floors, aluminum makes a good shower wall alternative to tile and colored shower doors are more interesting to look at than clear glass ones.
8. Shower Enclosure
Some of the showers on this list are created with large amounts of space in mind. If you have a smaller bathroom you obviously won’t be able to do his and her shower heads. What you can do is shower cubicles & enclosures.
They are made for small bathrooms, they look nice, they’re environmentally friendly, and they are a good option if you’re on a tight budget for your bathroom remodel.
