Even if you only use your room to sleep and change your clothes, imagine how much bacteria lurks in it. From the dust mites hiding in your mattress to whatever might be lurking in your carpet, your bedroom might not be as clean as you think it is! Get your bedroom sanitized to ensure that you get a good, healthy night’s sleep every night.

Carpet

There are about 200,000 bacteria in every square inch of your carpet. Yummy! How does it collect, you might ask? Think about it: Mold and bacteria thrive in dark, damp spaces. Consider the times you come into the room with wet shoes, or your dog has wet paws. Do this many times over the course of a year and the carpet’s porous surface has become the perfect place for mold to breed.

  • Refresh nasty carpet by steam carpet cleaning Houston. This is a green way to clean your carpet because water is heated to 200 degrees or higher to kill any bacteria with a blast of steam.

Your Mattress and Bed

Think of all the fluids that your mattress is host to: Sweat, drool and any other bodily fluid that you can think of. Your mattress absorbs so much that it actually gets heavier over time.

  • Every six months or so, strip your bed completely and wash your mattress cover. Sprinkle baking soda over your mattress and let it sit for one to two hours. Vacuum it up and spray with Febreze to freshen the smell.
  • Change your sheets regularly! It’s best practice to change them once a week and wash them in hot, soapy water. One hack is to wash them with a tablespoon of Dawn to get rid of sweat stains and greasy spots.

You will sleep more soundly once your bedroom has been cleared of extra germs. A sanitized bedroom is a healthy bedroom.
