If you want to make your bedroom more of a place to escape and relax, you might want to consider adding more to the space than just your bed. A sitting area in your bedroom can be a great way to get some separation from whatever else is going on in your house and allow you to unwind away from the rest of the world. However, creating the perfect sitting area can be a challenge, especially if you’re working with very little space.
To help you make the most of this space, here are three tips for creating a sitting area in your bedroom.
1. Make The Seating Adequate
The first thing you’ll want to think about when creating a sitting area in your bedroom is how much seating space you need.
If you share your room with a partner, you’ll probably want to put two seats in your sitting area for when you both want to enjoy this space at the same time or want to sit together. But if your bedroom is just for you, choosing the seat that best fits you and your space shouldn’t be too difficult. As long as you know if you’ll be doing more sitting or lounging, you should be able to determine what kind of seat you want and how big of a sitting area you want to have in your space.
2. Try A Bench Instead
For bedrooms where space is pretty limited but you still want to have some kind of area where you can sit in your room, you might want to consider making your seat a bench rather than some kind of chair.
With a bench, you can include both a sitting area and storage within or under the bench. Additionally, if you’re able to place the bench under a window, you’ll not only get a great view while you’re sitting on your bench, but you’ll also be able to keep your sitting area out of the way and clear more space for moving around your room.
3. Play With Textures
While you want your seat to be comfortable for you so that you’ll actually use this sitting area in your room, you might want to play with textures and different kinds of seats as you consider what to include in your bedroom sitting area.
For example, you might feel more comfortable in a rattan swing seat as opposed to just a classic chair. Additionally, you might want to bring in something like wicker to give your bedroom more texture and color and add visual interest to the entire space.
If you think you could enjoy your bedroom more with a sitting area in it, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you create this kind of space in your room.
