Trends That Are In
1. Going Floral
Whether you want to choose abstract or traditional floral patterns you’re in luck; these will definitely be a popular trend in 2019.
2. Jewels
You don’t need to cover your home with jewels but the color of these jewels will be a positive trend this year. Emerald green, indigo and even teal are all going to be in demand. To really embrace this trend go for black and white backgrounds and add the colors through layers of soft furnishings.
3. Bold Kitchens
The trend this year is likely to move away from the plain, mono-colored kitchen. You’ll need to add a splash of color via the cupboard doors, tiled backsplashes or even the utensils holders and display items. This is the opportunity to really enliven your kitchen!
4. Handmade Items
If you like handmade objects you’re in luck! You’ll need to ensure they are made from sustainable materials to fit with the latest trends.
If you can find or make something that helps remind you of your roots that’s even better.
5. The Four Poster
Maximum comfort and a feeling of safety are essential in all your furnishings but this is particularly relevant in your bed choice. The four poster is making a huge comeback as it provides these things and looks fantastic.
6. Acrylic Furniture
You may be surprised by the arrival of acrylic furniture but it can look fantastic, comes in a variety of colors and is perfect for smaller spaces. You can layer this type of furniture without making your room feel cluttered or smaller.
Trends On Their Way Out
1. Trellis
Any geometric type pattern is likely to be a fail this year, they are simply too rigid and dated. Skip the trellis or ikat themes.
2. Gray
Gray and other pale neutral colors are still a good idea if you’re looking to sell your home. If not then you’re best to leave these colors behind. The trend will be for warmer, but still neutral colors.
3. Terrazzo Tile
This popular flooring is likely to be less popular this year; if you’re considering it be careful; it’s not an easy one to replace or hide.
4. Dramatic Handmade Cloths
This year will see the end of dramatic handmade cloths such as indigo, mud cloth and even shibori. The loud appearance will be replaced by a more neutral but warm tone.
